In 1887, the British government appointed George William DEVEU as the 10th governor of Hong Kong.
In 1889, Paul zeta was authorized by DES Voeux to set up the Hong Kong land and Central Reclamation Project, and obtained GANO Road, Des Voeux Road and other coastal land in Central Hong Kong Island.
In 1904, in memory of George William de Voeux, he was named after both des Voeux Road and Des Voeux Road West in Central Hong Kong.
